Al has relocated to the South East, based just on the outskirts of London.

Recent/current projects:

Faryl Smith -August/September 09
Again working along side the great Jon Cohen, this time tracking vocals for a young opera singer Faryl Smith. Recording started out at Battery Studios for a week then we moved over to SARM West for the rest of the tracking- what a great studio and staff- this is Trevor Horns studio complex, so as you'd expect all the gear is top notch. One particular great feature of the studios is the Happy Hour every Friday at 5pm!

It was a total pleasure recording Faryl. Her vocal and musical ability is truly excellent and her attitude towards her singing is totaly professional, considering she is only 14 years old is quite incredable.

Sphere Studios London August 09
Worked at Sphere's excellent studio 2 which house's a 72 channel SSL G+ and the monitoring is one of the best I have heard. Engineering for Andrew Frampton who I knew from the PWL days, great producer, he was producing a new artist called COCO

John Smith produced by Francis Dunnery July 09
Engineering for Francis Dunnery who is currently producing singer songwriter John Gilmour Smith. Excellent sessions to be one, lots of creative energy between Francis and John. Need to be on your toe's and be ready to record various instruments and vocals at any given time.

Assistant Engineer Dec 08
Spent 4 days assisting producer Andy Green at his studio in Rye. I thoroughly enjoyed myself working alongside Andy, great producer and a really nice chap, great studio as well. It houses a very rare Helios console, black with the type 69 eq's (one was housed in Olympic studios in the 70's where many fine artists recorded through such console, such as Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix etc)
I look forward to working with Andy again in the near future.

MR SO AND SO- Sept 08
Back to The Forge studios in Shropshire to record the final and extra track 'New Years Day' to complete the album Sugarstealer (No incidents with Ant making coffee this time). Recording went very well, so well in fact that we managed to track another 2 acoustic songs 'Lemon Tree' and 'Lemon Tree reprise' (may be called something different for the album).
The album was then mixed at my own studio.

Once mixing was complete and the band happy with the mixes, Dave Foster (Guitars) and Magoo (Bass/vocals) joined myself in compiling the album. Not as straight forward as you would think, since the tracks needed to be in a specific order and some needed to run into each other. Also specific time lengths between tracks was needed and additional sound fx to be added. Once compiled we decided to master it ourselves. I used a TC 6000 for this. Unlike most albums today which are totally slammed with compression to get the last bit of level out, the album was mastered at a sensible level to retain the dynamics.

The album is complete and was released mid January 09 on iTunes. This is the first album I have co-produced and I am very pleased with the results considering the minium budget and the studios in which we had to record. But recording such a talented band always makes the job a little easier.

Check out Mr So And SO album Sugarstealer www.mrsoandso.com there are reviews of the album on their site and their myspace has a montage of the album www.myspace.com/mrsoandso.

BACK IN THE PWL STUDIO - Aug 08
'It was great to be back working with Pete Senior and Pete Junior on a new project. I spent 4 days having great fun mixing a new track (more details on the actual track once released.)

I managed to overcome many challenges to complete this recording but finally and somehow managed it! Just finished mixing it and awaiting approval.

FRON CHOIR 3RD ALBUM RECORDING - JUNE 08
'A great two weeks of recording alongside the excellent producer John Cohen for Universal, at The Forge studio. Hopefully we'll get another No.1 in the classsical charts once this is released.

MR SO AND SO ALBUM RECORDING AND MIXING - MAY/JUNE 08

'Recording this album had a little bit of everything that makes my job such a great pleasure. Great people, superb muscians using quality instruments. Shame about the recording studio we used, but we got through it. I pushed my skills a little here and stepped into a bit of production, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This was the first album to be mixed on the new Pro-Tools HD system at my studio. One of the tracks got featured on Classic Rock Radio on the Future Classic's section and I'm very happy that they won this, and got a weeks worth of airplay with the track. Also went down to the BBC to track a Steinway piano in Studio 7 where I set up a Blumlein array with my match pair of Royer 122 ribbon mirophones. The album is almost complete but due to the excellent sound of the album the band have decided to record a new track that will be added early September. I'd just like to say that I'm looking forward to Ant making the latte coffees again! Photo to follow if I can get my hands on it.

CARBON SILICON LIVE RECORDING AND MIX - FEB/MARCH 08
'I had the pleasure of recording a live set for Carbon Silicon (Mick Jones and Tony James) at Inn on the Green, West London. Great night with guesting from Alabama 3 (Sopranos theme tune). CD now available through the Carbon Silicon website. Got a good review from the NME.
